Highly Important Technical Note (Exclusive to EcoBoost Engines): The intercooler (Charge Air Cooler) is the structural backbone of the turbo system in Ford F-150 trucks equipped with EcoBoost engines (such as the 2.7L V6 Twin-Turbo and 3.5L V6 Twin-Turbo engines, including PowerBoost hybrid models). Its primary function is to cool the compressed air coming from the turbochargers before it enters the engine's combustion chamber, which increases oxygen density and provides the truck with maximum possible torque and horsepower, while protecting the engine from pre-ignition/detonation (Knocking).
Due to the radical front-end facelift (Facelift) and bumper design updates for F-150 trucks from the 2024 model through the current 2026 models, the intercooler size, hose angles, and air inlets/outlets completely differ from the (2021-2023) models.
Warning: Exposure of this component to any cracks or punctures due to lower undercarriage impacts or flying gravel will immediately cause a turbo pressure leak (Boost Leak). This manifests as a severe drop in the truck's torque, a distinct hissing sound under acceleration, and illuminates the check engine light while logging fault codes such as (P0299 - Underboost). During installation, ensure the hose clamps (Hose Clamps) are perfectly sound and securely tightened to guarantee they do not blow off under high boost pressure.
