Highly Important Technical Note (Protecting the Advanced 10-Speed Transmission): Modern Ford F-150 trucks rely on an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission (10R80). This transmission is highly sensitive to elevated temperatures; keeping the oil cool is the primary factor in extending internal clutch life and preventing transmission jerking or delayed shifts. The function of this cooler is to lower the temperature of the oil returning from the transmission before it is pumped back in.
Due to the comprehensive facelift (Facelift) in the front-end design and cooling system layout for Ford F-150 trucks starting from the 2024 model and continuing through the current 2026 models, please note that the cooler size and its mounting location (whether integrated at the bottom of the water radiator or as a standalone front-mounted cooler) vary depending on the engine type (EcoBoost, V8, Hybrid) and whether the truck is equipped with the heavy-duty towing package (Max Trailer Tow Package), which features a double-capacity cooler that differs from standard trucks.
Warning: Any minor seepage or leak in this cooler due to an impact or flying gravel will result in low transmission fluid levels, overheating, and complete transmission failure. Upon installation, it is highly recommended to clean the connecting lines and replace the internal circular O-rings (O-rings) to completely prevent leaks, followed by strictly topping off and leveling the transmission fluid with Ford-approved (Mercon ULV) fluid after finalizing the installation.
